In the novel, both Fanboy and Goth Girl are obsessed with comic books. Fanboy goes one step further and draws them! Art is a very important part of their lives.

So… You make some art!

That’s right — here’s your chance to make the world of Fanboy and Goth Girl come alive in artwork!

The rules are simple…

1. Get creative! Draw a comic book page! Paint a portrait! Do a sketch! Whatever you want, as long as it’s artwork.
2. Post your artwork somewhere on the internet — on your web site, your Flickr account (you can get FREE Flickr accounts!), on your MySpace page, etc. (If you can’t post online, you can snail mail your artwork click here for details.)
3. Fill out the form below — make sure you paste in the address to your artwork!!!!!!
4. OR…e-mail your artwork to fanboyandgothgirl/at/gmail.com. (Take out the slashes and use @ instead of “at”…but you knew that, right?)
5. If you have something cool you want to say about your artwork — like why you made it or your name or whatever — include that in the form or the e-mail and we’ll add it as a caption to the artwork!
6. Within 24 hours, we will grab your e-mail OR go to your spot on the web, grab your artwork, and post it on this special page.
7. You’ll get an e-mail showing you where your artwork is. Send it to your friends and tell them to vote for your art!
8. Now you’re entered to maybe win the iPod!

Whoever gets the highest star rating and the most votes WINS! (So if two people are tied at five stars, for example, the one who got to five with the MOST votes wins. If there’s STILL a tie, then the staff at Fanboyandgothgirl.com will pick the winner from the tied entries.)

Better yet, you can help determine which iPod will be the prize! If fewer than 50 people enter the contest, the prize will be an iPod shuffle. But if 51-100 enter, the prize will be an iPod nano. And if more than 101 people enter, the prize will be a full-size iPod! So, tell your friends to enter and get those entries coming in!

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. The “Fanboy Art Contest is sponsored by FanboyandGothGirl.com, 1418 Baltimore Street #185, Hanover, PA 17331 (“Sponsor”). Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia and Canada (except residents of the province of Quebec) who are 21 years old or younger at time of entry (“Entrants”). Employees of Sponsor and each of Sponsor’s affiliates, parent companies and subsidiaries, distributors, sales representatives, advertising and promotion agencies and the immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each of the foregoing are not eligible. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited by law.

TO ENTER: Submit an original piece of art related to the novel The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl. All entries must include the writer’s name and e-mail address. One (1) entry per person. Each entry must be an original, non-published work. Entrant subject to all notices posted online, including but not limited to Privacy Policy. Once submitted, all entries become the property of the Sponsor and none will be acknowledged or returned. Incomplete entries and entries not complying with all rules are subject to disqualification. Enter via postal mail or electronically. Contest begins on July 31, 2007 and ends at 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time on September 11, 2007.

JUDGING: Entries will be judged by online visitors, using a scale of 1-5 stars. The piece with the highest aggregate score will win. In the event that there is a tie (i.e., more than one entry with 5 stars), the winner will be determined by the greatest number of votes overall. In the event of a tie on that basis as well, the winner will be chosen from the tied entries by representatives of FanboyandGothGirl.com, whose decisions are final in all respects and who will use the following criteria worth 50% each of the overall score: (a) Originality of entry and (b) Creative expression.

WINNER NOTIFICATION: Sponsor will notify winners on or about September 15, 2007 by the e-mail address provided with the entry form. The Winner (and, if the Winner is a minor, the Winner’s parent or legal guardian) will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability, and Publicity Release. If all of the required documentation is not returned within ten (10) days of notification attempt or if prize notification letter is returned as undeliverable, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner selected.

PRIZE: One (1) prize winner will win either an iPod shuffle, iPod nano, or iPod, depending on number of entries. (up to 50 entries, prize is iPod shuffle; 51-100, iPod nano; 100+, iPod). Approximate retail value of prizes is between $79 and $249, depending on number of entries. No transfer, cash or prize substitution is permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize (or prize component) of equal or greater value for any reason.

GENERAL RULES & LIMITATIONS: By entering, Entrant grants to Sponsor the right to publish, edit, promote, and otherwise use the Entrant’s entry — including but not limited to name, artwork and other information provided in the entry — in any and all media without further permission, notice or compensation, except where prohibited by law. The Winner shall be required to grant in writing to Sponsors the right to use his or her name, artwork and other information provided by Entrant’s registration and entry in any and all media without further permission, notice or compensation, except where prohibited by law. By entering, Entrant represents and warrants to the Sponsor that: (1) the entry is the Entrant’s original work and (2) the entry does not and will not infringe upon or violate the rights of any third party. By participating in the Contest, Entrant agrees to release Sponsor and its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, licensees, employees, officers, directors, shareholders, representatives, agents and advertising, promotional or judging agencies, or prize supplier from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, possession, use, misuse, loss or misdirection of any prize, or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to or from any contest or prize related activity.

Sponsor is not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures, or other errors or problems which may occur in connection with the Contest, whether computer, network, technical, mechanical, typographical, printing, human or otherwise, including, without limitation, errors or problems which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing or judging of entries, the announcement of the prizes, in any Contest-related materials, or that may limit prize fulfillment or a participant’s ability to enter the Contest.

In the event of a dispute over the identity of an online Entrant, entry will be deemed submitted by the “Authorized Account Holder” of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. Authorized Account Holder means the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
