• From the book...

I can't afford to let myself feel good, to let my guard down, to think for a single moment that I belong.

    Because I don't.

Infinite Crisis vs. Civil War

Yeah, that’s right, Doctor Doom said it best about a million years ago when Stan was writing him.

Infinite Crisis was a major league disappointment. I’m really sorry that was the case because I’ve been a big fan of Geoff Johns’ writing, but man, this totally missed the mark.

I didn’t have the time (or the $!) to read all the tie-ins, but my main reaction when I finished reading #7 was, “So?”

I loved Crisis on Infinite Earths. I tracked down the original issues for it (with letters pages!!!). I wanted to love this. I can’t.

On the other hand, Civil War #1 was pretty good. I think the SHIELD troops turned on Captain America a little too fast, but overall it’s following what they’ve set up in the regular titles. Here’s the thing… I’m not buying anything extra. If it’s a series I already get, cool; if it’s not, too bad. I can follow Civil War on its own.

At least so far…
