Hey, gang! We’re celebrating the fact that The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl has been optioned for a movie!
Who do you think should be cast in the movie? We want to know! And every month, one lucky person will be chosen at random to win a prize!
How do you enter? It couldn’t be easier — just use the comment box below and tell us who you think should be in the Fanboy movie! You MUST give us the name of the character in the book AND the name of the actor or actress you think should play that role. Cast as many or as few roles as you like.
And hey — if your comment doesn’t show up right away, be patient and give it a little bit of time. Sometimes comments get delayed, so don’t fear. If after a day, you don’t see your comment, go ahead and try again.

Freddie Highmore from Finding Neverland should play Fanboy.
Ivana Baquero from Pan’s Labrynth should play Gothgirl (she speaks English)
And finally in the best casting decision of this century: I should play the bus driver.

Zoie Palmer should be Kyra.
Everything about Kyra made me think of Patsy (played by Zoie) from Instant Star.
She did an amazing job.
Honestly, I think Adam Brody would be perfect for the role of Fanboy.
His character, Seth Cohen (on the OC), reads comics and is a fan of Bendis.
Only problem is, he’s like 20-something.
Danso Gordan, the guy from South of Nowhere should play the role of Cal
The role is Kyra is hard and therefore I have no options
but hopefully someone will know who.

For the role of Donnie, I say Devon Werkheiser (Ned from “Ned’s Declassified”) and for Kyra, I nominate Christian Serratos (Suzie from “Ned’s Declassified”)
My six year old son and I get a kick out of this Nickelodeon show “Ned’s Declassified”. He started watching it at the time I read the book, so I picutred those two actors playing the parts…
The first person i thought that are suitable for the role of fanboy (or Donnie?) and Kyra are Freddie Highmore and Emma Watson. Their looks both matches the ones mentioned in the book.
Also, it could be very interesting to see Lindsay Lohan as Dina Jurgens and maybe Hilary Duff to be Lisa Carter.Well, they are pretty enough right?

For Fanboy, I would pick Adam Brody because his character Seth Cohen on The O.C. is alot like him:
he’ a nerd.
he was picked on by bullies
he reads comics
and he’s a huge fan of bendis.

Cody Linley for Donnie, Mehcad Brooks for Cal, Christina Ricci for Kyra.
I think Katherine Dennings should be casted as Kyra “GothGirl”. She is around 21, but she is always casted to act younger than her age.
I also think that Matthew Lewis should be casted as “FanBoy”. He plays Neville Longbottom in the “Harry Potter” series. He kind of has that nerdy-geeky look.
I think Tyler James Williams would be great to play “Cal”. Right now the actor might be too young, but by the time the film is made, he should be old enough.
I think Actress Amanda Seyfried would be good to play “Dina” Fanboy’s crush. She is a bit older too, but she also acts in younger roles.
As for Fanboy’s Parents I think either “Patrick Wayne Swayze” or “James Denton” would be good to play the “Stepfaister”. They have the deep rich voice and look to them.
His mom I think should be played by actress “Julianna Margulies”. She has a nice ‘mom’ look. She is also pretty plain in apperance and has a nice way of acting.
I think that’s all for now. I agree with “bigbee”.. i think there should also be an audition for a Fanboy Movie. It’s a lot more fun to make a movie based from such a great book, fresh with new actors and actresses.

Adam Brody-Fanboy
if you’ve watched the O.C. then you’ll know the character of Seth Cohen. The neurotic and insecure indie loving geek. He and Fanboy have ALOT in common. For starters, they both like comics (DUH!), they both created a graphic novel, they’re geeks/nerds, when being mocked, they do not intend to fight back, and of course they’re both fans of Bendis.
Danielle Harris-Goth Girl
She’s pretty, tough, and talented. In other words, in one of her previous films, she actually played a goth girl and even if it was a short role, she kicked ass.
Kristin Cavallari-Dina Jergens
what can I say? They’re both gorgeous.

Perhaps young Jamie Bell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Bell), born in 1986, might play Fanboy? Similarly Camilla Belle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:WhenaStrangerCalls1.jpg) could pull off a convincing Goth Girl, I suspect, if she could be made pale enough.

I personally think that a guy named Christopher Marquette should play fanboy I think that he could do it I mean have you ever seen The Girl Next Door?
and goth girl should be Kay panabaker although she would have to dye her hair but I think that she would make a great goth girl
Carter Jenkins (Surface) would make a great Fanboy. He’s certainly skinny enough, he’s the right age, and he has a certain air of geek-ness about him.

The most important thing in casting is that there angst is believable looks don’t matter as much as line delivery.
Shia LaBeouf from Transformers, Holes, Surf’s Up! & Even Stevens should definitely play Fanboy- I mean, in most the movies/series he has been in, he’s played the exasperated, outcast, picked-on sorta character..
Goth Girl is a hard one to cast… Maybe Mary Elizabeth Winstead from movies like Sky High, Die Hard 4.0 & Final Destination 3, I dunno, she sorta looks like the troubled spirit, and if you goth her up a bit, she’d deffinitely look the part. And she proved in Sky High she can be a bit of a two-faced maniac.. but I must admit, the first girl who came to mind is the beautiful AnnaSophia Robb from Bridge To Terabithia and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, though she might be just a tad too young, at 14…? Or Maybe even the amazing Saskia Burmeister from Wicked Science and Hating Alison Ashley, if you make her a little more pale and threatning looking- they did it in Pirate Islands, after all…
As for Cal, I agree on Corbin Bleu of High School Musical, Jump in, & Catch that kid.. he’s excelent in the Popular Sports player aspect.. or maybe even Orlando Brown from That’s So Raven, once again good at being the popular guy, or go for one of Shia LaBeoufe’s old co-actors from Holes; Khleo Thomas; who posses the quiet-but-sporty-guy aurora.
For Dina, who only a small few have mentioned, I do suggest the popular and talented Hilary Duff to go for her, as she pretty much matches the description in the book, or even Delta Goodrem? After seeing her in Hating Alison Ashley, she looks fit for the part, too!
Jane Kaczmarek from Melcome In The Middle could be Fanboy’s dearest mother, if they make her look pregant… She can go pretty psycho..
Adam Godley from Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Nanny McPhee & Around the World in 80 Days would be excellent as the Step Facist.
Man, I wish there was some mor eimportant characters that I remember, but I can’t think of any right now.. but hey, I totally support the Stan Lee cameo idea, nonetheless.

I think either Sam Huntington or Adam Brody should play fanboy. For Kyra they should cast Lizzy Caplan (janis ian in mean girls) she would be perfect. For dina they should cast Megan Fox. And i dont care who he plays he could be hust some guy in the street but they have GOT to cast kevin smith.
Kevin Smith could play one of the guys having a conversation with Bendis after the show
Most of these characters should either be actual unfamous teenage kids or the parts should be put to famous people who arent that popular.

I imagine the kids being a bunch of unknown teenagers, while the adults being more famous actors. I always imagined it as a low budject indie movie, rather than some huge Hollywood thing… I think it’s important that the kids are played by real teenagers, as that makes that more real to teens. I like Adam Pascal as the stepfacist. The guy who played the original principle(not Synder) on Buffy would make a great Sperling. I

I’ve been with this site since May, and I can tell you that I’ve been really excited to know they are thinking about making this a moive.
To start out, let me say, I’ve commented plenty of times before, that I think I’d make a great Goth Girl. I dress like her, and I’m pretty sure that I act a whole lot like her.
For Fanboy, a guy at my school, Trevor, has reminded me of him – since day one that I’ve started reading the book. He acts like him, and is EXACTLY what I imagined Fanboy looking like – no joke. I’ve told my mum that everytime I see him out and about.
My feelings, are that I think to make this a perfect movie, use new actors. That’s the only way to make this work. I don’t want to watch this if it has someone big, playing a main role of Fanboy or Goth Girl. That’s not right. It’ll throw the whole movie off, completely.
Of course, you don’t have to listen to a nobody, but I think my reply could really help you out a ton.

I personally think that Adam Brody should play Fanboy and for Dina, I think it would be really awesome (and hot) if the actress was one of the “Girls Gone Wild” Did you know that they lift their shirts up and show boobies? or whatever you wanna call them: Tatas, Jugs, bitch, humps, etc. For kyra, i would pick Will Smith

For Fan Boy: Maybe Mikey Way from the band my chemical romance or his brother gerard way also from my chemical romance and for fan girl…. thats hard maybe Amber Tamblyn from sisterhood of the traveling pants and Joan Of Arcadia.
For Fanboy, I’m picturing a young Nick Stalh. Dina = Blake Lively (sisterhood of the traveling pants, Gossip Girl). Kyra = Lizzy Caplan (mean girls). I’ll have to keep thinking about who can play Cal.

For the step-facist you need someone intimidating like Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom or even someone like Chad Michael-Murry (though he is a bit young) or Vin Diesel or Heath Ledger.
