She ... holds both hands out to me, palms up, so that I can see the criss-crossing pattern on each wrist. The scar tissue is white, a dead white, almost a match for the hue of her skin.

The Sequel: Goth Girl Rising

Time is a funny thing in the hospital. In the mental ward. You lose track of it easily.

After six months in the Maryland Mental Health Unit, Kyra Sellers, a.k.a. Goth Girl, is going home.

Unfortunately, she’s about to find out that while she was away, she lost track of more than time.

Things seem normal at first. Roger’s his typical, pain-in-the-ass fatherly self. Jecca and Simone and the rest of the goth crowd still do their thing. And Kyra is back in black, feeling good, and ready to make up with the only person who’s ever appreciated her for who she really is.

But then she sees him. Fanboy. Transcended from everything he was into someone she barely recognizes.

And the anger and memories come rushing back.

Fanboy. The Spermling. Miss Powell. Roger.

Her mother.

There’s so much to do to people when you’re angry.

Kyra’s about to get very busy.

I agree with Joaquin “But then she sees him. Fanboy. Transcended from everything he was into someone she barely recognizes.” what does that mean? Is he goth or something??? Is he older and better looking? What? I am so looking forward to the book and I hope I win the contest thanks so much Mr.Lyga

  16. J says:

“Transcended from everything he was into someone she barely recognizes” might mean that he became into something she doesn’t like. Maybe a jock?

  17. Chris says:

I love the first book. Never before have I seen such a fair description of the life I used to know in elementary. I’m now 18 in two days and TAAOFAGG is still one of my favorite books, ever, hands down. That’s how relatable it is. I picked it up at Chapters and it was marked down, under $5. I bought it, because of the cover and just the atmosphere of the thing. Well, keep it up. I’m excited for the sequel. Correction- I can’t wait.

  18. Chris says:

wow, this probably sounds lame, but just writing that made me want to read it again. and the funny thing is, I read it a week ago. oh barry, you own a part of my soul, you witty fiend.

  19. FanboyandGothGirl.com says:

Thanks, Chris. Glad the book meant/means so much to you! 🙂
